Hamilton Beach Brands Canada, Inc., is looking for qualified candidates for an Accounting Manager opportunity located at our Markham Head Office. The Accounting Manager position will have direct responsibility for the general accounting functions in Canada and will be a part of a collaborative team that support one of the leading companies in our industry.

Requirements:

• 5+ years general Accounting Experience in public or related settings
• B.A/B.S Degree in Accounting preferred or equivalent Business based degree.
• CPA Designation required.
• Detail oriented, and has experience preparing Financial Reports, General Ledger Account reconciliations, quarterly analyses, and Plan/STF Balance sheet account forecasts.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & Internet).
• Experience with AS 400, COGNOS BI, strongly recommended. Epicor is an Asset.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this position.
• Must be a highly detailed, strong analytical skills, organized self-starter and able to work with little supervision and minimal clerical support. This position reports to the Finance Controller located in Markham, Ontario.
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience of managerial/supervisor experience
• Must be able to work in a collaborative office environment and systematic approach and focus on problem solving.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and monitor day-to-day accounting operations and process month and year end process.

• Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization and taxation.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries and assist in the closing process and financial statement preparation.

• Review financial processes for cost and efficiency improvements.

• Work with the Financial Reporting team and auditors in the implementation of newly issued accounting standards and requirements.

• Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations, journal preparation, analysis, and Plan/STF balance sheet account forecasts.

• Annual & Quarterly budget preparation

• Supervisions of Accounts Payable function

• Control Documentation & Review

• Prepare annual audit working papers and work with the internal & external auditors
