  • Primary Function:

    The Cost Accountant will support the operations finance/manufacturing accounting functions by providing/assisting in plant reporting, refining and expanding upon our current quoting process, our companies quoting compilation and analysis, performing month-end close activities, performing bill of material maintenance, and assist with product standard cost integrity. This individual should enjoy working outside the box and challenging the organization with new ideas and a fresh perspective. This role will also be responsible for assisting the Controller with various project assignments and will report to our divisional controller.


    Specific duties will include:

    •  Responsible for overseeing inventory cycle counters at each location and setting and ensures accuracy of all counts.
    • Weekly report to management of summarized findings and corrective actions of cycle counts, inventory valuation, and updates of any known issues.
    • Set, manage, and maintain the process for all items setups in our quoting, production, and accounting systems.
    • Responsible for helping develop and improve our current quoting process in a standardized and efficient way for our current service offerings (e-commerce, co-packing, distribution, and warehousing) and expansion of our service offerings when applicable.
    • Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs. Analyzes actual production costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
    • Assist with completing all quotes necessary for our customers while ensuring the financial integrity of our costs in our quoting process and align with our financial performance.
    • Manage Bill of Material audits to satisfy corporate policies. This will entail communicating with each plant on the progress and ensuring they will meet annual policies.
    • Detailed review of all new business won to ensure our margin expectations are being met.
    • Monthly review of profitability by customer business.
    • Create PPV reports and analyze findings.
    • Recommends cost efficiencies in new product layouts.
    • Develop and maintain standard costs of finished goods and production components in our WMS systems and accounting system.
    • Collaborate with warehouse employees and other staff to ensure business goals are met.
    • Complete monthly and annual assigned financial close tasks related to inventory, including preparation, review and posting of journal entries and submission of financial information into the accounting system with monthly results, tracking, reporting, and forecasting responsibilities and investigate accounting discrepancies.
    • Maintain and resolve any and all costing issues within the systems.
    • Complete monthly assigned account reconciliations (includes preparing and reviewing) by providing validating proper analysis and supporting documentation.
    • Participate in the execution and improvement of accounting processes.
    • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls, procedures, and remediation plans regarding inventory.
    • Ensure all processes are appropriately documented and assist in the on-going documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
    • Acts as a resource in the training of other team members; provide back-up support as needed.
    • Maintaining financial systems with high integrity, ethical conduct and compliance with Company policies.
    • Additional tasks may be assigned.


    Training/ Skills

    • 4 Year Accounting Degree.
    • 2-5 years accounting work experience.
    • Requires thorough understanding of cost accounting procedures and 3-4 years of relevant experience.
    • Experience with Great Plains and Nulogy desired.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills. Fluency in English required.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, including WORD and EXCEL (Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
