Customs Compliance & Trade Compliance Manager

We are currently looking for a Customs Compliance Manager for our office in Dubai whose primary responsibility lies in ensuring that the organization's compliance is in line with UAE government's rules and regulations.
Your Role
You will be responsible for managing processes and implementing controls on customs documentation processes and making sure that everything runs in a smooth, timely, reliable and cost effective manner. This not only includes Customs Law(s), but also free trade agreements, consumer protection, free zone regulations, transport and security directives within the GCC perimeters. You must be updated on regulative changes at all times and facilitate training and implementations in the cluster.
Your Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between customer and Kuehne + Nagel on all customs, compliance and trade matters
  • Develop the annual plans and associated budgets for customs operations
  • Monitor, recommend improvements, implement and manage appropriate policies and procedures in customs operations including quality, health, safety environment (QSHE) and security timely services are provided to internal and external customer
  • Develop and maintain good relationship with internal customers to minimize errors/delays in documentation and accordingly update progress on internal systems
  • Establish good house-keeping in customs department, train staff and ensure that the practices of Kuehne + Nagel UAE is in compliance with the UAE government’s rules and regulations
  • Understand the customers global import/export compliance requirements as well as working closely with the customer’s managers
  • Ensure that the company is updated on customs regulations that are applicable to Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare industry
  • Ensure that all customs agents used by Kuehne + Nagel have completed minimum legal and compliance requirements and agreed to Kuehne + Nagel supplier code of conduct, etc.

Your Skills And Experiences
  • Bachelors/Masters degree in logistics/business administration or a related discipline
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in UAE Customs and trade compliance
  • 5-10 years’ experience in airfreight, sea freight/overland business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic as well as strong presentation skills
  • Ability to define, develop and create business initiatives
  • Occupational Health and Safety knowledge from UAE local legal regulations and legislations
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS tools
