Role Description

GLC Asset Management Group Ltd. (GLC) is a leading investment management firm with offices in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Toronto and London, Ontario. From our office in London, ON, the Equity Analyst will be supporting our equity portfolio managers and analysts. The successful candidate will provide timely analytical support for the group, produce equity research reports and complete a variety of other assigned projects to assist in the management and monitoring of GLC equity portfolios and research models.

Accountabilities

  • Perform both quantitative and fundamental analysis on stocks which are potential candidates for inclusion / exclusion in portfolios under management and from this analysis, make buy / sell recommendations to Portfolio Managers
    • to perform analysis, analyst must gather information from various sources including contacts with sell side brokers and analysts
    • must have excellent skill in fundamental analysis of companies (eg. Income statement / balance sheet analysis)
    • must utilize quantitative analytical tools to aid in analysis
    • must produce write up detailing analysis for potential stock buys and sells
  • Monitor portfolio holdings across multiple mandates
    • monitor news flow, street recommendation changes etc. on a daily basis for companies held in portfolios as well as selected “watch list” companies
    • analyze quarterly earnings reports for companies held
    • monitor news regarding overall portfolio exposure with respect to trends and material events that could change the opinion on a stock
    • update Portfolio Manager as required with relevant information and recommendation for action, if required
  • Attribution Analysis for stocks held and sectors covered
    • update Portfolio Manager periodically regarding attribution analysis of stocks / sectors for which analyst is responsible
  • Quantitative Modeling
    • assist in the analysis of back-tests used in the creation of new models or enhancement of existing strategies

    Qualifications And Competencies
    • Completion of finance-related degree
    • Desire to pursue CFA designation
    • Able to review and interpret financial statements
    • Solid understanding of the capital markets and a strong finance background
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills
    • Able to work independently and complete tasks within deadlines
    • Experience as an investment research or financial analyst would be as asset
