As a Geotechnical Inspector working for COWI, you will benefit and develop based on COWI's combined global geotechnical knowledge.

MAINTAINING THE OVERVIEW

As a Geotechnical Inspector, you will be responsible for performing daily inspection of geotechnical projects, monitoring quality and conformance with relevant code requirements, construction drawings and project specifications.

Since you will be responsible for the daily inspection of geotechnical projects, the inspections may cross multiple disciplines or within a specified area of expertise including geotechnical site and laboratory investigations, geological face mapping, piling works, excavations, earthworks, instrumentation and monitoring etc. The inspections may also include visual/physical inspection and field testing to verify conformance with the project plans and specifications.

In this role, you will take participation in the meetings with the client when required and will also be responsible to prepare inspection reports and provide written documentation of observations and testing of materials. You will be communicating findings to engineer or project manager and collaborate with the project team on solutions to potential issues when requested with addition to carrying out the office work time to time which will include preparation of reports, data management, calculations etc. along with being adhere to strict safety standards.

  • You will perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with the specified procedures and project requirements (onshore and occasionally offshore).
  • You will read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • You will provide clear documentation of findings and results.
  • You will be responsible to perform basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submission to the Project Manager.
  • You will be communicating information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the Project Manager.
  • You will prepare inspection reports for review by the engineer and/or Project Manager.
  • You will follow safety rules and practices for the project. Report any safety issues or concerns to the Project Manager.
  • You will perform pre-task planning prior to executing work.
  • you will be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

YOUR PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS CREATE VALUE

For applying the role of Geotechnical Inspector, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in geotechnical or geological engineering (Engineer/Geologist) from an internationally recognized university and have a minimum experience of 2-5 years in similar jobs. Experience from Qatar or other GCC countries would be preferable.

This role requires you to have an experience with geological evaluations of soil and rock including particularly evaluation of weak sedimentary rock types along with geotechnical site investigations and documentations hereof. You should also have an experience with geological face mapping.

Furthermore, you should have a valid Qatar driver license or possibility to obtain Qatar driver license shortly after employment. Also, you should have excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written along with the experience in MS Office.
