Job Focus:

The Medical Manager is responsible for all medical aspects of the responsible Immunology and Inflammation (I&I) brands. He is the single national point of medical contact for national and above country brand teams for the responsible I&I Brands.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Medical Manager is a customer-facing medical function, and He/she is responsible for the best utilization of the medical resources and expertise to develop and enhance KOL management across Saudi Arabia. He/she should provide the best use of information, research results and medical updates to customers as well as internal stakeholders and to ensure Pfizer Medical to Medical Communication and activities are of high quality, balanced and well-supported by the substantiated scientific evidence.
  • Medical Manager is responsible for KOL management related to his/her own therapeutic specialty and is the medical partner for KOLs across the markets, using medical resources and capabilities to develop long term partnerships with individual HCPs, medical universities and institutes aiming to direct Pfizer resources and initiatives for the best well-being of patients and treatment outcomes.
  • He/she is responsible for planning and conducting local clinical studies when required through identifying opportunities of local clinical trials and/or investigators (Interventional, Epidemiological, IIRs,…etc.) to generate local data and support its publications in cooperation with the internal and external stakeholders. Also, generating innovative ideas for new clinical programs and medical projects that address the unmet medical needs related to Patient outcomes.
  • He/she provides a bridge between clinical research and the marketing and sales department as well as the remaining departments within the organization. He/she specifically provides an authoritative opinion and answers medically based questions concerning medical, legal and regulatory matters.
  • He/she is responsible for developing and implementing strategic medical directions within key therapeutic areas
  • Drive & develop the Medical Programs & Campaigns aligned with marketing and company Business Objectives.
  • He/she will utilize knowledge and skills to design, execute educational programs to create a level of professional awareness about relevant disease areas.
  • The Medical manager is also responsible to develop and communicate customer insights based on medical to medical interactions with HCPs in the Saudi market.
  • Design, develop and execute Medical Awareness & Educational programs (CME) to maximize Disease area penetration
  • Provide proactive input in the strategic medical management and marketing
  • Develop and organize medical activities in coordination with the Marketing group, such as: Local & regional workshops, scientific symposia, local & Int’l speakers’ tours.
  • Prepare and compile medical resources / Products’ Scientific data/Clinical articles/Publications /Studies/Journals/Slide-kits and Presentations, to be used according to local SOPs
  • Identify Disease area/Customers’ Medical needs and exchange inputs
  • KOL Management: Participate and develop Key Opinion Leader’s (KOL’s) & Health Authorities partnership programs in coordination with the Marketing group.
  • Develop, recruit and train local Speakers within the frame of local SOPs.
  • Design and execute Advisory Boards for respective therapeutic areas in order to gain customer insights and address the unmet medical needs in Saudi Arabia.
  • Update Product Medical-Training modules & materials.
  • Contribute to the design and approval of promotional materials.
  • Develop effective relationships with key influencers and external organizations
  • Provide the necessary medical support to Clinical Research, MI, PR departments.
  • Co-ordinate and utilize specialist knowledge with colleagues in formulating and implementing medical strategy
  • Answer medical or technical questions concerning protocol and product.
  • Provide training and education to internal staff and participate in protocol development if necessary.
  • Share knowledge and technical expertise with other team members while providing medical training to field representatives and other internal staff
  • Ensure compliance to Pfizer SOPs and local regulations in all promotional activities and materials. Ensure adherence to compliance/company procedures & policies (SOP’s)
  • Medical Manager is responsible of reviewing and approving Pfizer meetings, materials and grants based on merits and scientific content. He/she provides the needed FCPA reviews and supports the teams with necessary advices.
  • Monitor the archiving process of non-promotional medical materials and HCP’s contracts and ensure compliance with internal policies and audit requirements.

  • External (KOLs, Speakers, Decision Makers, Local Medical Societies and MOH)

Required Skill Set:

Technical:

  • Medical background (MD, MBBS, MBBCH) Physician or Pharmacist. Board certification and/or sub-specialty fellowship in a major medical field is a plus.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a relevant medical affairs field / position. Experience in Immunology and Inflammation is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical industry, drug discovery, research & development, commercialization, promotion, and applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines
  • Knowledge of “pharmaceutical medicine” including clinical pharmacology, medical and paramedical sciences, medicine and medical statistics and relevant Therapeutic Area/Products
  • Expertise in clinical trial design and methodology, and understanding of interfaces, and conduct
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal (including medical writing and presentation skills) and cross-functional team collaboration
  • Analytical skills and reasoning, and sound medical judgment/decision making
  • Interpersonal skills, internal & external networking and the ability to impact and influence
  • Saudi Nationals are preferred.
