The British Library holds one of the largest collections of Latin American printed books in Europe. The collections range from early printed to contemporary publications, including small press and artists’ books, and digital resources. As part of the Americas and Australasian Collections team, you will participate in the development and management of the Library’s Latin American printed collections, selecting and acquiring published material, and reviewing processes relating to collection management, including preservation. Working with other teams across the Library, you will help promote the Latin American collections through online resources, engagement with different audiences, research collaboration with academic partners, events, exhibitions and the Library’s public programme.

You will have good knowledge of Latin American history and culture, and an awareness of publishing trends in Latin America. Degree-level knowledge of Spanish and English and the ability to acquire a suitable level of Portuguese are essential requirements for this role. You will have relevant work experience in an academic library or research environment, and ideally a degree in Library and Information Studies or a subject relevant to the role. An ability to work both independently and as part of a team is crucial to this role.
