The Database Test Development group’s charter is to become an Oracle expert on the cutting edge technologies that shape the success of its customers by developing tests and tools for Oracle Database and various other database products family across many 64-bit hardware and OS platforms along with certifications for different OS flavors.

The group ensures that customers get the highest quality in Oracle Database - our flagship product, and other database products family such as Big Data Appliance, Exadata Database Machine, Oracle Database Appliance, Audit Vault and Database Firewall, GI (Grid Infrastructure), Oracle R Enterprise (Advanced Analytics), GoldenGate Enterprise Replication, Real Application Clusters (RAC).

Validating the new features and mitigating risk of regressions in an enterprise class database system like Oracle is a challenging and fun filled task as this requires us to envision the complex usage scenarios and develop automated tests and specialized test frameworks. We need smart people who like to be challenged, have a zeal to learn new technologies and can come up with innovative solutions. Our products envelop a wide range of technologies including Oracle Replication, Big Data, Hadoop, Oracle Cloud Storage (ASM), Recovery Manager, Oracle Text, Database Gateways, Data access - Oracle Call Interface (C/C++) & PHP, Optimizers, Database High Availability, Data Warehousing - Parallel Query & Partitioning, XML DB, Flashback Technology, Security – Encryption, Firewall, Virtual Private Database, Oracle Advanced Compression and many more.

With all the above technologies and its associated features and many more in every release cycle, it is always a challenge to ensure if these features work well together. We need to identify valid cross-functional combinations by understanding the whole set of features and research/develop innovative test methodologies and frameworks and also leverage existing test libraries.

• Developing database product usage scenarios, design tests and tools to ensure that customers get the highest quality products.

• You need to think like an application developer to test the features and keep yourself updated on trends in usage of features.

• Analyze the specific behavior of tests on different OS platforms and ensure high portability of test cases

• Optimal utilization of machine resources for testing through tools and processes

• Research and develop new innovative test methodologies/frameworks.

• Develop smart and easy to use automation tools.
