Community Services is a non-profit, accredited, multi-service charity dedicated to providing quality programs and services to Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows. Restorative Justice is a program part of Community Services that evolved from the need for alternative meaningful measures for those in conflict with the law. Restorative Justice is an approach to achieving justice by engaging those involved in criminal, non-criminal, interpersonal conflict or disputes in an inclusive and meaningful way. This approach brings healing to parties by creating an environment for conversation about harm, impact, accountability, and reparation of harm.
Who You Are
We are looking for adult volunteers for our Mentorship Program. Adult mentors provide encouragement, support, and guidance to youth while assisting youth to complete their Restorative Justice Agreement. A Restorative Justice Agreement is the formalization of the items agreed upon to repair the harm that has been done to the victim and, in some instances, the community. Mentors will promote responsibility and accountability to help youth truly understand the effect of their actions.

Responsibilities
- Provide encouragement, support, and guidance to youth
- Support youth’s understanding of the effect harm has on victims, their family, and community, and assist in implementing and completing a Restorative Justice Agreement.
- Promote a strength-based approach that encourages accountability, healing, and closure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as a team member and independently
- Patience and a positive attitude
- Understanding of Restorative Justice principles
- Clean driving record and Class 5 Drivers License
- Use of personal vehicle with 2 million dollar liability insurance
- First Aid Certificate
