Introduction

Aga Khan university Hospital invites application for the position Technician, (Operating Room) Nursing Services.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

• display competency for the following areas as per scope of services of the hospital: Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General surgeries, Urology, Paediatrics and Ophthalmology cases as applied.
• receive and identify patients correctly for surgery / procedures.
• coordinate with OR team leader or designee for smooth running of OR surgeries/ procedures list
• assist in preoperative patient preparation
• complete all pre-operative documentation pertaining to patient and surgery
• assist surgeons in all surgeries including day-care procedures independently
• ensure time out process before surgery
• assist in safe transportation of patients within the unit and from OR to ward and vice versa
• participate as a circulating person and helps in recovery room when needed
• ensure all specimen removed during surgery are correctly labeled and displaced for necessary investigation as advised by surgeon
• use hospital equipment and supplies judiciously to ensure effective and economical use of the same as required
• operate all equipment as per manufacturer's recommendation ensuring compliance with safety policies and reports any problem with equipment to supervisor for the timely rectification
• comply with Operating Room and Infection control policies and procedures
• ensure proper cleaning of OR area before and after surgery / procedure
• perform daily checks of special assignments such as surgical items, OR equipment and CSSD supplies. Biometry scans for eyes and eye lenses as per the physician's request

Requirements

You should have:

• Matriculation, Intermediate would be preferred
• Diploma in Operating Room Technician from recognized institution
• at least one year related experience
• must possess sound knowledge including scrub techniques, operating room instruments and asepsis
• willingness to work in shift duties.
