Arabic Translator/Linguist - UAE

TechWise Global is conducting a Capabilities Enhancement Project for a military client. The job is located in the United Arab Emirates. This project involves multiple aspects, including developing enhanced training capabilities and comprehensive doctrine that are required for full-spectrum/multi-domain operations in a joint, combined, and inter-agency environment. We are seeking highly qualified subject matter experts to join our team.

Work as part of a multi-faceted team and act as a liaison with non- English /Arabic individuals as needed. Translate English language narrative into well-written Arabic prose; interpret documents written in English-Arabic and Arabic-English. The translator will translate legal documents, written correspondence, edit and proofread military technical documents. This specialist must be fully capable of functioning semi-independently and in a team environment. Specific qualifications and related information are described below.

Essential Functions

• Translation of all documents as requested in English-Arabic and Arabic-English
• Translation of random certificates, licenses and applications as required.
• Documentation and file management of translations
• Translation support as required in support of projects
• Liaison with non-English/Arabic individuals as requested.
• To research specialized terminology for conversion into English assuring proper conversion of meaning and concept
• To read through original material and re-writing it in Arabic Language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained.
• To use specialist dictionaries, thesauruses, glossaries and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used
• Liaises and communicates with the customer/project staff to discuss any unclear points
• Proofreads and edits final translated versions
• Provides clients with a grammatical, well-expressed final version of the translated text, usually as a word processed document
• Uses the Internet and email as research tools throughout the translation process
• Meets deadlines
• Consults with experts in specialist areas
• Retains and develops specialist knowledge in the military/defense industry
• Must be able to work and adapt in a high-stress environment

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Arabic: Excellent Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening
• Advanced English: Excellent Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening
• Advanced Microsoft Office Software
• Advanced Communication and Relationship Management
• Advanced Additional European Language
• Flexibility, Self-Motivation

Strongly Desired Qualifications and Professional Experiences:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Translation/Interpreting
• Valid Passport (at least 6 months from expiration)
• Must pass all security checks
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in UAE or similar position
• Computer Literacy: Adobe, MS Office
• Knowledge of computer applications
• Drafting and finalizing technical and non-technical translated publications
