GENERAL PURPOSE
This job exists to lead activities of the Polyurethanes business in Central and South America.
NATURE OF THE POSITION
Lead the commercial and technical support activities of the Polyurethanes business in South America, ensuring all our resources are aligned to the overall strategic direction for Polyurethanes in the Americas, and that all our activity in the region is conducted in compliance with all Huntsman standards. Ensure achievement of all agreed financial objectives annually; engage with shared service functions to ensure support to all aspects of our business: supply chain, HR, administrative, financial, and EHS activities. Actively contribute to the Americas Leadership Team (ALT), participating in the development of regional business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with all corporate guidelines (EHS, Legal, HR, etc.) within the region by all associates, contractors, vendors, customers, etc. through strong leadership with all managers in the region as well as active cooperative engagement with Corporate functions.
Prepare and implement business strategies plans and objectives working with Commercial Directors for the Americas Region to deliver all agreed budget targets for South America as well as growth delivery. Define and agree and implement all technical service and formulation development objectives for the region for each segment with each respective Commercial Director.
Working with the Supply Chain Director, ensure that optimum logistics strategy (imports, stock storing and product distribution) is agreed and implemented in the region and well communicated and executed to all team members.
The incumbent must ensure our talent bank is fully sustainable, and is responsible for developing the skills and capabilities of all team members.
The incumbent is fully responsible for the Huntsman sites located in Central and South America.
The incumbent is an active member of the Americas Leadership Team, who regularly contributes to the development of all aspects of our regional business strategy.
The incumbent collaborates with shared service personal to ensure all administrative and functional aspects of polyurethanes business in South America are properly managed and aligned to business needs. This includes Credit, Treasury, Legal, Human Resources, Accounting Shared Service, EHS, IT, and others.
Requirements
The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate discipline; Business Administration, Chemistry, Engineering, etc. Higher education, particularly an MBA, is highly desired. Vast experience in commercial or financial management is required, with proven experience in business strategy development. Prior international business experience working is desirable; particularly experience in developing economies. Prior experience in facility and legal entity management is also highly desirable.
Fluency in English, along with at least a solid working knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is critical.
The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong negotiation skills.
The ability to maintain a pleasant and professional demeanor, even under times of stress, is essential. The ability to properly safeguard confidential and sensitive information (pricing, salary actions, organizational changes, etc.) is essential.
