Position Vacancy

Expression of Interest applications are invited for the position of Control Chemist reporting to the Operations Coordinator. This position requires working on a continuous shift roster during the crushing season period and requires a reasonable amount of overtime. The successful applicant will be responsible for the following duties, subject to the needs of the business.

Main duties:

• Collecting, mixing and performing standard routine analysis for Molasses & by-products - (HPLC); Raw sugar - (sugar quality); Cane fibre; Raw juice; Mud; Boiler waters; Thymols
• Calculation of analysis, reporting and computer data entry
• Producing daily databank reports for factory distribution
• Maintain a clean laboratory and good housekeeping
• Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor
• Follow all site safety rules and regulations
• Other tasks as outlined in the Sugar Industry Competency Standards Level 5

Selection Criteria may include the following:

• Cert III in Laboratory Skills or equivalent
• Knowledge of quality standards & procedures
• Work under supervision or autonomously
• Work effectively within a team
• Prioritise and organize work within the required time schedules
• Work safely and look after the safety of others
• Communicate effectively
• Provide feedback to the shift coordinator or station operators
• Work in conjunction with day work laboratory personnel
• Current driver's licence

As a Herbert Region employee, the successful applicants in the above position will be required to commence or finish work on time at any Herbert Regional work site depending on the needs of the business.
