Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen within the Metro and Rail Projects department for an Engineer – Track x2.

This Role Will Involve
  • Responsible for ensuring all activities are in compliance with Company standards and procedures.
  • Technical assistance to the Production Teams
  • Accurate setting out of data provided.
  • Checking the integrity of the data either by practical or theoretical means.
  • Cross reference the setting out data.
  • Supervision of assembly process.
  • Technical co-ordination of plant and equipment operations.
  • Site measurement for QS purposes.
  • Recording data for record and Quality Assurance purposes. (‘As Builts’).
  • Maintaining equipment to good working order.
  • Carry out and record periodic checks in line with Company procedures.
  • Ensuring equipment is in calibration and certificated.
  • Ensuring security and safety of equipment.
  • Responsible for operating within the practice and procedures of the quality system.
  • Alerting Senior Management, QA Manager to any non-conformance or deficiency in quality, materials, services or workmanship.
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in the mentoring and development of Junior Engineering staff.
  • Liaison and communication with VolkerRail staff and contractors plus all relevant external contacts as required in order to discharge the duties and responsibilities of this JD/SRS.
  • The discharge of these safety critical duties and responsibilities within this JD/SRS and any other safety critical competencies are mandatory upon the post holder.
Job Requirements

You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of managing fluctuating workloads, working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines and working off your own initiative. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.

To Be Considered For This Role You Must Have
  • Demonstrable experience of main line track renewals.
  • A minimum of an HNC, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering is an essential requirement for this role.
  • Excellent knowledge in the use of the latest setting out equipment and the associated tools available.
  • Computer literate and working knowledge in Microsoft office applications.
  • Demonstrable experience of the implementation of health and safety management processes.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in the site environment.
