Job Summary

The Host/Hostess is the guest’s first impression of the restaurant, with knowledge of menus, menu ingredients and guest preferences.

Responsibilities

1. Meet and greet all members, and potential members, at the front of the Restaurant by ensuring the following:

  • Ensure the restaurant is ready to receive members prior to opening and that both wait staff and tables are ready in line with opening standards
  • Ensure restaurant operating equipment is clean and in working order
  • Maintaining impeccable uniform and personal presentation standards in accordance with club policy
  • Welcoming members to the Restaurant, by using the Restaurant name
  • Inquiring if they have a reservation and noting it in the reservation book if they do
  • Creating a reservation for them with their dining preferences if they do not and noting it in the reservation book

2. Being attentive to guest requests

3. Escort members to their preferred table or reserved table and seat members according to restaurant standards

4. Take telephone bookings and document in the Reservation book according to restaurant standards

5. Train wait staff and bus staff in hostess standards

6. Be attentive to members and resolve their complaints where possible, reporting all incidents to your Supervisor/Manager

7. Maintain responsibility of cleanliness of hostess stations

8. Maintain responsibility of cleanliness of all menus and drink menus

9. Assist with beverage service

10. Assist with food service

11. Maintain detailed knowledge of menu, including daily specials

12. Ensure tables are cleared quietly and efficiently

13. Carry food and beverage trays in a safe manner to minimize breakages

14. Complete dockets accurately and clearly

15. Maintain current information on all general activities of the resort.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Candidates should have 1 to 2 years previous experience in a 5* luxury, fast paced environment.
  • Ability and desire to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and be willing to accept assignments on as need basis.
  • Well-verses with Micros and Computer systems.
  • Excellent communication skills for both guest and employee interactions.
  • Strong desire to take a proactive approach to understanding the needs and desires of our guests.
  • Exceptional customer service and problem solving skills.
