Overview

A brief overview of the duties of a Junior Software Developer at Spencer Ogden. Assisting with the application development and infrastructure of the software services function, that includes over 12 working end-user sites, and remote workers globally. Responsible at the creative input,
development and delivery stages for project execution and evolution of our bespoke management web application systems, to an excellent standard. The role requires demonstrable skills and an excellent understanding around user adoption and software best practices.


Application Development / Facilitation  

Reporting directly to the IT Manager, the role is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of bespoke web application systems to the company, globally. Scoping and building out first class web based solutions, they will assist in development of in house web services and technologies used to support the customer-base (staff), whilst nurturing a positive attitude towards excellence and detail. They will also participate in peer code and solution reviews; develop, test and support the deployment of releases through continuous integration.


  • Continually learn, develop and innovate in accordance with industry
best practices, along with suggesting fresh approaches to new
system technologies where appropriate; and work closely with staff
team members to support projected and planned improvements.
  • Ensure that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, investigate and
resolve problems in systems and services ensuring that such
problems are fully documented within relevant system(s). Coordinate
the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures
and analyses patterns and trends.
  • Develop implementation plans for dealing with complex requests for
software change or for the introduction of new applications and
services, assisting with the evaluation of risk to integrity of
infrastructure inherent in proposed implementations and review the
effectiveness of change implementation.


IT Infrastructure / Technology


  • Building upon our Microsoft Azure estate, they will be heavily involved in the overal hardware, software and networking architecture. Assisting with the setup, and daily running of the operation from a BAU standpoint.
