PHP Developer

We are looking for a developer to continue the development of our application and the introduction of new and innovative features.

Our product is a SAAS based marketing channel support application that we want to move to modern architecture and design, however, we also need to maintain and develop the existing product. You will have to deal with current technical debt, support issues as well as the backlog of development requests while helping with the future design of a new system. Our business is growing fast and we need the right people to facilitate this

You will not need to be minutely competent in every technology listed, but you will need to be able to recognise how and where you need to plug gaps in your abilities whether that is through training and learning new skills or by bringing in talent to supplement your abilities. 

Our application is ever-evolving so you will need a pragmatic approach to change and a positive attitude to this evolution. You will be expected to offer considered suggestions on both methodology and architecture when developing the application.

You will be in direct daily communication with the directors and will be a crucial part of the direction of our application in the coming years. We offer a supportive working environment and will be relying on you having an opinion and being prepared to enter into healthy debate on the product. We want you to evolve your skills with the project and will look to you for insight into tools and techniques that we should be employing.

Requirements

• A proven track record as PHP Object Orientated Developer
• Impeccable communication skills, well versed in liaising & managing both internal and external stakeholders
• To work in conjunction with our CEO and lead developer on product development
• Proven experience with deployment and management of new code i.e PHP 5
• Experience of working with MVC Frameworks (i.e Symfony or Laravel)
• Able to work with small remote teams, based from either our Evesham or Cheltenham locations, although some remote work.

PHP 5+, PHP Object Oriented development • Either MySQL database or Postgress or MariaDB • Good working knowledge of version control systems (SVN/GIT) • Restful API • Design patterns • MVC Frameworks (Symfony, Laravel) • JQuery/Javascript Architecture design • Unit testing (PHPUnit) and integration testing • Integrating third party APIs • Good UX/UI Vision and Skills

Cloud deployment of PHP • Bootstrap / HTML • Microservices • Working in a project with Agile methodology • Working with custom written frameworks • Memcache • Message Queues (e.g. RabbitMQ, BeanstalkD, AmazonSQS) • Debugging PHP scripts
