The Laboratory for Immuno Bioengineering Research and Applications (LIBRA) (https://jeremyteolab.wixsite.com/libra) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is inviting applicants for a research assistant hire in the area of mechanical design for bioengineering. The position is for a duration of 11 months and supported by the Research Enhancement Fund of NYUAD.

The successful applicant will have to implement skills sets in device development for interfacing with the on-going immunomechanobiology work at LIBRA. Specifically, the hired individual will engage and is responsible for the conceptualizing, prototyping, testing, fabrication and implementation of the device. Implementation will require some level of software coding or modification, and electronics. In addition, cross-training in cell culture and biological assays for the experimental testing phase is necessary. The device is to be used in spatially constraint environment and therefore an explorative and creative individual that is daring and willing to explore beyond the boundaries of ‘the box’ is preferred.

Applicants must have at least a Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics) or Bioengineering with evident background in mechanical design and systems implementation. Prior knowledge of CAD drawing, prototyping, lab view, MATLAB and basic electronics are preferred. Applicants with previous publications in the field are highly preferred.
