The Sales Support Specialist provides support required to the our sales process to ensure maximum revenue generation and utility of assets, reliable and consistent communications for optimal customer relations, rate administration for optimal billing accuracy, and administration support to ensure smooth transition for new sales to operations.
Primary responsibilities:
- Backhaul Sales
- Secure spot loads to ensure minimal empty miles and maximum revenue on backhaul lanes
- Work with our operations group to ensure potential backhaul loads fit the logistical requirements i.e. last contained, equipment etc
- Secure new customers with regular backhaul lane freight that provides consistent lane balance
- Provide dispatch support in pre-load planning, brokered loads etc
- Rate Administration
- Provide spot load quotes as required
- Administer rates per the rate management process
- Ensure proper rates are used within revenue and settlements process
- Ensure rates expire and are updated as required
- Provide support to the A/R collections process as it relates to rates
- Provide support to rate development by business development managers
- New Acct Sales
- Conduct inside sales activity to secure new account sales as required within different divisions
- Initiate credit approval process for applicable accounts
- Populate customer profile with required operating parameters from contracts
- Assist in RFQ proposals as required
- Other duties as required
Desired skill set:
- 1+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Degree or Diploma in a related field or equivalent work experience
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
- Experience training and coaching operations staff is required
- Strong analytical skills
- Proven ability to deal productively and professionally with internal and external customers
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Impeccable organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills required
