At Koç University we are looking for an Alumni Relations Specialist/ Assistant Specialist with the below mentioned qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree preferably in Communications, Administrative Sciences, Social Sciences or Engineering. Masters degree in a related field is a plus
  • Preferably experience in corporations, foundations or NGOs preferably in alumni relations, customer relationship management, fundraising, database administration, account management, event management, corporate relations or communications
  • Excellent writing and speaking abilities in Turkish and English
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly in Excel, Powerpoint, and Word
  • Competency in web content update preferably in Wordpress
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals
  • Ability to work with third party agencies and provide briefings in an efficient and clear manner
  • Ability to identify problems and work in a solution-oriented manner
  • Ability to travel and work overtime in the evenings and/or on the weekends to attend special events and/or meet seasonal deadlines
  • Willing to take responsibility and deliver timely results with minimum supervision
  • Ability to hold correspondence with all stakeholders in a timely, courteous, responsive and efficient manner as needed
  • Ability to compile comprehensive and accurate reports in English and Turkish
  • Willingness to take new initiatives and improve existing workflows
  • Ability to track and analyze alumni needs and propose action points
  • Ability to monitor, track and compile statistical and financial information and work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external constituents
  • Experience in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver is a plus

The Alumni Relations Specialist will assist in the implementation of alumni relations programs in a timely and efficient manner. Under the supervision of the Alumni Relations Manager and the overall guidance of the Department Director, his/her primary responsibilities will include the following:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a strategy designed to inspire and motivate alumni to engage in various services and programs
  • Develop initiatives to promote greater awareness, sense of community and commitment for engagement among alumni
  • Develop engagement opportunities to communicate the importance of giving back to the university as part of university’s overall fundraising campaign
  • Compile communication materials and provide marketing support for programs and events as needed
  • Prepare and execute alumni events and other special initiatives
  • Execute financial processing of donations (invoices, refunds, etc.)
  • Construct, plan and organize events to foster strong connections between alumni and the university
  • Respond to queries from alumni regarding alumni events, campus services and facilities, etc.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of alumni engagement programs in Turkey and abroad (limited travel may be required to organize events in target locations)
  • Conduct studies to identify alumni needs and expectations and determine the services that are most desired by the graduates
  • Leverage all data references, manage the alumni database and analyze data as needed
  • Ensure that the necessary technical infrastructure is in place to maintain the alumni database with the most up-to-date information on graduates
  • In close collaboration with the Career Development Office, track the professional development of alumni and prepare reports
  • Construct initiatives to Inspire and educate students on alumni engagement through early exposure to alumni activities
  • Maintain close contact with the Alumni Association and explore opportunities for collaboration
  • Conduct research and prepare reports for relevant university departments and third parties such as higher education institutions, affiliations and networks
  • Train student assistants/short-term interns and supervise their work
