We are currently seeking a Regular Part-Time Dispatcher to join our Logistics Team in Brampton!

In this role you will be responsible for coordinating the dispatch of Transport drivers and vehicles in order to facilitate the safe and timely distribution of blood products, equipment, materials and the transportation of staff and donors.

  • Assess and plan vehicle and staff resources to meet daily operational requirements.
  • Utilize the Vehicle Maintenance Program to ensure that Canadian Blood Services’ Fleet operational standards are met.
  • Coordinate/facilitate the resolution of day to day operational issues, consulting the supervisor/manager for direction as appropriate.
  • Completes appropriate documentation required for department activities, compiles statistical information and prepares reports upon request.
  • Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Canadian Blood Services’ Corporate Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Understand and use Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Centre Operating Procedures (COPs) as a source of information and guidance in the performance of all duties.
  • In the absence of the Transport Supervisor, the incumbent may be designated to assume some or all of the duties of the Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Required Skills

Responsibilities:


  • Valid drivers' license, minimum Class D & F strongly preferred.
  • Completion of a secondary school program.
  • A minimum of two years experience in a related position.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, being able to exercise tact, sound judgement and discretion when dealing will others.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, including priority setting.
  • Effective problem solving skills, capable of interpreting and analyzing reports to make plausible recommendations.
  • Intermediate computer skills with extensive experience working within a Windows environment using Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • Ability to employ customer service techniques that help to build and foster positive professional relationships with staff, volunteers, donors, other departments and external agencies.
  • Experience in the deployment and scheduling of resources within a regulated (i.e. Transport Canada, Provincial Highways Traffic Acts, Hours of Service Regulations) and/or unionized environment (i.e. interpretation and application of collective agreements). OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of local street and highway systems.
