Finance Officer

VanArts is an accredited, private post-secondary institute offering diploma programs and degree pathways for the visual, media and performing arts. We are currently looking for a full-time finance officer starting Nov 8th, 2019.


GENERAL:

The Finance Officer is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports. She/he provides financial support to the Controller through accounting, banking, payroll and reporting services.


Under the direction of the Controller, the Finance Officer maintains all necessary and appropriate records, files and processes to ensure the smooth and compliant financial operation of VanArts.


REPORTS TO: Controller


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare Accounts Payable files and process cheques for signing and distribution.

• Reconcile daily cash receipts and bank accounts monthly.

• Monitor cash flow and cash management.

• Maintain student financial records, including fees collection and T2202A/T4A for tax purposes.

• Collect tuition fees and update students' account.

• Manage petty cash and daily banking.

• Reconcile all G/L accounts and prepare monthly financial statements as required.

• Maintain staff files, including schedules and time sheet monitoring.

• Order supplies for offices and renew service contracts with vendors.

• Assist bi-weekly payroll, NR4 remittance and filing.

• Prepare Worksafe BC report, and other reports as required.

• Provide advice and recommendations on financial procedures and practice as required.

• Other duties as required.


REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma or certificate in business, administration, or management and certificate in accounting or financial management.

• Excellent interpersonal and organization skills.

• Attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.

• Minimum 2 years related experience in private sector.


Compensation: $35000-$40000 (depends on experience),

extended medical and dental benefits after 3 months probation
