    Introduction

     

    The Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Foundation for a Senior Journalist with extensive Energy Industry experience.

     

    Please note when applying for this role that an in-depth knowledge of the global oil and gas market as well as factors prevalent to Qatar are a must. Additionally, you will be responsible for the writing of numerous reports, analysis, articles and papers, the quality of this writing and content planning will be held to a VERY high standard.

     

    Qualifications Required

     

    1.   A university degree in journalism, or relevant field.

    2.   A well document past in energy industry journalism with examples of published content.

    3.   Must have an excellent understanding of the energy industry with the ability to conduct research and analysis for publications. Likely to have at least 10 to 15 years’ experience in such businesses.

     

    Skills Required

     

    1. You will report to the Director of Energy Studies as well as to the MD and be responsible for delivering projects assigned to you from both the directorate and the MD.
    2. You will be required to engage with a wide range of external experts, notably: Subject matter experts in global oil and gas (e.g. in IHI, Wood Mackenzie and Energy Intelligence); Blue-chip management consultancies – up to Senior Partner and Managing Director level (e.g. McKinsey, BCG and Bain)
    3. You will require a deep and wide understanding of the economics and business drivers of the whole oil and gas industry and competing energies.
    4. You will need to possess the ability to convey complex concepts and ideas to non-specialist and/or senior audiences.
    5. You will need to be able to think quickly, flexible and under time pressure in order to continuously develop high-quality publications as circumstances change.
    6. Fluency in English (verbal and written - first language) is essential. High skills in designing, writing and editing reports for senior management and workable business processes.

     

    Job Responsibilities

     

    1.   Manage the development of energy-related publications:

    • Carry out studies of global and Qatar energy supply and demand.
    • Examine oil & gas price forecasts;
    • Conduct research on the economic, energy and risk analysis of the more significant countries for the Foundation’s strategy;
    • Produce Energy articles and publications.

    • Research Papers
