To support us on our journey, the Nutrition department is looking for a Porter to join its team at the Mount Sinai Hospital Site.

  • Assists with the assembly, distribution, and pick up of patient meal trays
  • Washes pots and pans, and works in the dish room
  • Transports and cleans food carts
  • Collects and recycles all garbage within the department
  • Ensures safe operation, maintenance and cleanliness of all other related equipment
  • Maintains a clean work area while
  • Follows proper food handling and sanitation procedures including HACCP
  • Follows proper chemical handling instructions outlined by WHMIS
  • Adheres to applicable legislative, MSH and/or departmental policies and procedures
  • Ensures strict adherence to Organizational Quality Assurance and Health and Safety standards
  • Comply with confidentiality requirements under the MSH Privacy Policy
  • Assists with other duties related to the position as assigned
Job Requirements
  • Successful completion of a high school diploma
  • Food Safety Training certificate (preferred)
  • 1 year recent food service experience in a healthcare setting (preferred)
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position in order to perform the essential duties of the position which requires frequent exposure to extreme warm and cold temperatures, prolonged walking and standing (up to 7 hours), frequent independent and assisted lifting/pushing (25 lbs. or more), turning, stooping, reaching and bending at the arms, waist and knees for extended periods of time
  • Customer service oriented, with the ability to effectively work in a diverse environment
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to use judgement to problem solve
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with MSH standards
