Hydrogeologists, Geologists and Geotechnical Engineers in COWI Qatar are part of COWI's global network where knowledge is shared between engineers in COWI's offices around the world, ensuring that COWI's best-practices are implemented everywhere and that work is distributed to the relevant engineers regardless location. As a Hydrogeologist working for COWI, you will benefit from and develop on the basis of COWI's combined global knowledge.

We require a technically strong Senior Hydrogeologist with experience across a range of areas in hydrogeological engineering with a primary focus on major infrastructure projects such as major bridges, tunnels and marine projects.

The position is based in our Doha office, but projects are often situated outside Qatar and carried out in a multidisciplinary environment with input from our offices spread primarily across Europe, the Middle East, South- and Southeast Asia and North America.

As a Senior Hydrogeologist, you will be joining COWI's ground engineering group in Qatar and working closely together with internationally based hydrogeologists and other ground engineering specialists and engineers.

MAINTAINING THE OVERVIEW

As Senior Hydrogeologist, you will be participating and occasionally managing various types of hydrogeological projects including tasks such as preparation of scoping and specification documents for hydrogeological investigations, data management and interpretation of hydrogeological information and groundwater modelling including preparation of interpretative reports, design of various hydrogeological projects, preparation of design reports, site visits during hydrogeological investigations, significant interfacing with clients etc.

This role may require international travel on a short-term basis between other COWI offices primarily in the Middle East and Europe and occasionally working from client/project offices.

This role will furthermore include some business development including preparation of proposals and meetings with potential clients for developing project opportunities.

Furthermore, you can recognise your primary responsibilities in the following statements:

  • Providing technical expertise and/or support for geologic and hydrogeologic investigations, hydrogeologic testing, geologic and hydrogeologic visualization, analytical and numerical groundwater flow modelling, development of conceptual site models etc.
  • Managing hydrogeological projects both technically and financially including decision making in regard to relevant methods and procedures for executing hydrogeological aspects of the project as well as managing other engineers participating in the project both technically and financially.
  • Performing and leading field work and field data collection, data interpretation and evaluation, and preparation of technical reports.
  • Develop client relationships and build business.
  • Project management and regulatory agency communications.
  • Proposal writing and client interactions.
  • Travel from time to time in duration of typically a few days to a few weeks, but occasionally longer durations upon prior agreement.

 
YOUR PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS CREATE VALUE
 
For applying this role, you should have minimum 10 years' experience with a proven record of executing and managing large scale and complex hydrogeological projects including interpretation of hydrogeological data and numerical groundwater modelling. You should also have an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Hydrogeology from an internationally recognized university with a previous interface experience with contractors and exposure to construction site environments. Previous / current experience working in the Middle East will be an advantage.

  • You can work within a hectic team environment and managed several projects at the same time.
