Key Responsibilities

  • The System Engineer provides professional services sales support developing services solutions representing Dell EMC and, frequently, the rest of the Dell Technologies family brands Dell, EMC, Pivotal, RSA, Virtustream and VMware. Working within our Dell Technologies Services (DTS) business unit and leading the solution definition in close synergy with the Services Sales, Services Delivery Teams and in collaboration with product account teams to position the best fit Dell EMC solution that best meets customer requirements.
  • This is a senior, pre-sales, customer facing role. The System Engineer will lead the development of service line responses to RFPs, Statements of Work (SOW) creation and review, effort estimation and transition of work to delivery organization through appropriate practice management
  • Professional Services Pre-Sales solution owner and contributes to the sales pursuit strategy, account planning and forecasts. Preparing Services Solutions and Services Sales presentations to customers including C-level management.
  • Leads customer presentations and workshops at the senior leadership by articulating the IT transformational journey in both business value and technology terms with a special focus on one of our pillars (Data Centre, Infrastructure or Operating Model Transformation).
  • Lead Solution development (leveraging expertise from other disciplines where required) – including creation of solution designs, scoping documents, project risk profiling , and corresponding financials. Lead and collaborate with teams of local/virtual Subject Matter Experts and Solution Architects in the development of solutions.
  • Ensure internal Services Deal Governance is adhered to in the development all DTS proposals and responses (RFP and SOWs) and support deal negotiation and closure to include transition support to service delivery; Work with the services delivery SMEs in the defining the most accurate and efficient effort profile to ensure profitability and solution delivery.
  • You will work in a collaborative environment where your skills, dedication and team work will be rewarded. You will have to conduct research, answer questions and remove objections that arise in a sales campaign. You will serve as a Trusted Advisor for Services Solutions and thought leader within your area of expertise.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent; Exceptional consulting skills, including methods, tools and techniques to apply within an IT transformation context.
  • Expert level experience in at least one service area or technology and ability to articulate and design modern data center infrastructure based on industry best practices covering Storage (SDS, Block, File, Object and HDFS), Compute (Blade, Rack), Converged systems (CI, HCI), Network (SDN and traditional network), Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, VDI), Operation Systems (Windows, Unix, and clustering).
  • Proficient in multiple service areas and technologies, with ability to envisage, plan in addition to defining implementation, migration and operational readiness scopes.
  • Previous experience of acting as a solution lead, solution architect or CTO in large multi-national program (within the last 2 years) and proven skills and experience in constructing complex IT infrastructure services solutions (scope services, assemble effort estimates, plan programmes and work packages).
  • Thorough understanding of the professional services P&L and cash flow development (including business impact), risk analysis and commercial models such as Fixed Price, T&M and incorporation of 3rd party contracts.
  • Proven experience in client facing roles and effectively influencing at all levels (up to CxO) with ability to construct, tailor, and negotiate service contracts (e.g. Statements of Work) for both customer engagement and partner provisioning; Proven communication skills and ability to work effectively in a sales environment.

Desirable Requirements

Strong experience in one or more of the following will be an advantage:

  • Working knowledge of Dell EMC and VMware product portfolio
  • Working knowledge of ITIL and PMP
  • Working knowledge of Agile Development practices and DEVOPS
  • Enterprise architecture (TOGAF)
  • VMware certification
  • Storage, backup and archiving optimization
  • Practical knowledge/experience with Organizational Change Management (OCM)
