FUNCTIONAL TITLE: Laundry Driver / Attendant (OCN)
JOB LOCATION/DEPARTMENT: Qatar - BOSS
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the overall operation of the laundry facility to ensure an adequate supply of clean linens as needed on a daily basis in a timely manner. Use the laundry equipments to full capacity for cost efficient laundry operations.
Major Job Activities
Pick up and deliversoiled laundry from various collection points on the installation and transport to the laundry facility for washing, drying, folding and wrapping.
Will performjoint inventories at each collection pick up point and providea written list of items picked up.
Select the appropriate washingformulas, and the kind of detergent, temperature and water settingfor the load size.
After washing,load wet wash into dryer and balancethe load by distributing articlesevenly. Set timers for periods to sufficiently dry the laundry.
When laundryis ready, removeit from the dryer and fold, all towels shouldbe folded, wrappedin plastic and placed in area designated for pick-up by team membersfor delivery to designated pickup/delivery points.
Provide courteous service to customers and be cordial to all team members.
Will report needed supplies to supervisor, before runningout.
Report any maintenance related issues and problems.
Performs Other Duties And Assignments As Required.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: Laundry Facility equipment’s such as washing machine, clothes dryer, etc..
Working Environment/Physical Activities
Work in locations that may become hot and noisy. Expose to cleaning chemicals, fumes, etc. Personnel are rquired to stand, walk, bend and lift continuously on concrete floors. Perform heavy physical task for long periods. Interpersonal and communication skills are requirements of this position as there is constant interaction with army personnel as well as fellow co- workers. Problem solving is required to ensure that in case of a supervisor being unavailable they can handle a situation on their own (i.e. run out of linen or space). Dexterity is required because at times there are more than one project to complete per shift. Being bilingual is important as this position is a foreign national position and speaking English is a requirement.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license
Education/Experience
High school diploma preferred but not required.
Previous work and experience in custodial services and knowledge of hazardous chemicals are a plus. Must know the loading capacity of tumblers, extractors, or conditioners. Must have skills and experience with sorting, washing, drying laundry and with commercial laundry.
Program Specific Requirements
Must be able to communicate and coordinate activities with a multi-national and culturally diverse work force.
Possess knowledgeof safety and environmental issues as they relate to Laundry Facility Support &Management.
Accustomed to dealing at executive level.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
