The Role


This position is responsible for developing and maintaining reports and models for Capital Markets. The analyst will work closely with the business to understand the requirements that drive the analysis and design quality technical solution.

Improve and maintain existing models, and design and implement technical solution for current business needs

  • Actively design, build, implement and support reports and models built in Microsoft Excel.
  • Create and maintain documentation for testing and validation.
  • Modify and expand existing SQL database to provide functionality that meets user requirements.
  • Modify or create reports and queries according to user and manager requirements.
  • Responsible for designing, coding, testing and implementing.
  • Perform 'on-the-fly ' troubleshooting and resolution if/when problems arise. Provide end-user support, specifically as it relates to system and database interaction.

Provides high quality work (e.g., conducts and/or examines a variety of pre-implementation tests to ensure solution is workable).

  • Demonstrates solid technical knowledge for area of responsibility (i.e., knowledge and skills sufficient to resolve most complex technical issues).
  • Develops and maintains completed and accurate understanding of how the business unit conducts its business. Maintains detailed knowledge of the business’ current technology infrasture.
  • Provides consulting services to internal business groups on process improvement projects designed to improve their business results.
  • Consults to development and infrastructure teams on requirements, functional architecture and implementation. Provides guidance and advice to clients in use business applications, including advanced functions and productivity enhancement.
  • Analyzes business and user needs, documents requirements, and revises existing systems logic difficulties as necessary.

Complete detailed analysis and technical design and development of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.

  • Analyzes, defines and documents reqruirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls and outputs.
  • Contributes to defining timetables and project plans; analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Ensures that expected application performance levels are achieved.
  • Develops program specifications.
  • Converts specifications about business problems into programming instructions Designs and codes programs; creates test transactions and runs tests; revises as necessary.

Provide support functions and services for the Capital Markets team

  • Shares best practices and knowledge with others.
  • Develop and maintain deep technical Microsoft software skills.
  • Stays informed about technology trends, directions and uses throughout the industry. Uses that knowledge to apply the most current and appropriate technologies to support the business, and also to anticipate and seize new opportunities.
  • Participates in problem reviews, root cause analysis, problem resolution and trend analysis. Coordinates activities with other service areas and functions.
  • Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of plans to insure continuation of critical operations in the event of a disaster or interruption.

What You Bring To The Team


Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of analysis, design and development experience using a broad range of systems and data analysis and design tools and techniques
  • Strong technology background specifically:
  • MS SQL
  • Stored Procedure Design
  • Table Design
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Access)
  • VBA in Excel and Access
  • Experience in the Financial Services Industry specifically Mortgages preferred

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and a solid undersanding of structured programming, object oriented design and service oriented architecture
  • Strong research and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to manage expectations and handle high-pressure situations with tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills including coaching and mentoring
  • Exceptional analysis and design skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • High degree of self-initiative ability
  • Ability to work in and foster a team environment
  • Experience writing high-quality documentation, reports and proposals
  • Detailed understanding of the software development lifecycle and the practices and procedures of software development

Education:

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in Computer Programming
