The Person

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised, self-motivated with a positive attitude and able to work under their own initiative. You will be expected to provide technical advice on a wide range of issues to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits. You will strive to secure best practice, optimising our environmental performance to reduce our environmental impacts. You will also play a key part in developing our environmental expertise to help grow our intelligent customer needs as the business changes over the next few years.

The Skills

Essential

  • Entry Qualifications – As a minimum, entrants will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent) Candidates with a relevant Degree may have an advantage. A multidisciplinary science based degree would be an advantage.
  • Enhanced organisational skills and proven ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
  • General professional qualities such as accuracy, tenacity, result-oriented and teamwork-oriented attitude, diplomacy.
  • Ability to work independently & collaboratively, be pro-active, report on and escalate relevant issues.
  • Candidates should be able to simplify complex technical issues and communicate these in a clear and concise fashion to ensure effective delivery of verbal or written feedback.
  • Candidates will have good analytical skills and an ability to think independently to identify trends, behaviours and insights that could be effective at helping the organisation improve its environmental performance
  • Some travel will be expected to travel to the power stations so a valid driving licence is essential


Desirable

  • Experience in applying technical knowledge within the nuclear industry or similar.
  • Experience within an engineering or technical and safety discipline would be an advantage but not essential. Training will, be provided based on existing experience.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Experience working with environmental regulators
Competitive Salary & Benefits

The position falls under the Protech Technical Engineer Competence model within the NJC Company Agreement and will attract a salary within the range of point 22 and 30 of the single spine scale (£45,706- £60,592). The assigned platform (P2) and associated salary point will depend upon the skills and experience of the successful candidate. The starting salary for this appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. You will receive 28 days annual holiday plus bank holidays, incremental and competency based progression, a career average company pension scheme, access to benefits including gym membership, cinema tickets, technology offers and cycle to work scheme.
