About Australian National Maritime Museum

As one of Sydney’s most visited museums, the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) is committed to being a world leader in maritime history, sharing the national maritime story across Australia and providing a must-visit museum experience. Starting with the opening of the ANMM’s Warships Pavilion, the museum is undergoing a major onsite transformation. The Australian National Maritime Museum is seeking talented people with various skills and experience who are interested in temporary (non-ongoing) work in one of our Sydney office.

Most positions are office based and may be filled at the APS 2-6 levels ($48,120 - $86,224) or Executive 1 and 2 levels ($94,339 - $123,358). Roles vary and are diverse across all areas in the ANMM. Such roles may include customer service, people management, project management, conservation, registration, interpretation and design, analysis, operations, change management, ICT, statistical, human resources, payroll, sales, retail, marketing, sponsorship, foundation and philanthropy, tourism and lots more. The positions will depend on the demands of the work area and the ANMM work program.

Were looking for applicants to tell us about what skills, experience or qualifications they can bring to the ANMM. If a position comes up, we will review the resume and application responses to see if someone has what we need.

Employment contracts may vary from a few weeks to up to 18 months depending on the business requirement of the ANMM. Often these positions are required to be filled at short notice. The positions may be Full Time, Part Time or Casual. Casual positions are of an intermittent nature with hours and working days varying as required.

Note: Please be aware that you will only be contacted if a position arises that matches your talents as described by you in your application form and resume.

Eligibility

To be eligible for temporary employment at the ANMM, applicants are required to:

  • hold Australian Citizenship or have the legal right to work in Australia

  • be willing to undergo an Australian Federal Police (AFP) records check

  • be willing to complete a Health Declaration and if required undergo a health check

  • be willing and eligible to obtain a security clearance to the appropriate level if applicable to the position.

Notes

Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term.

Employment contracts may be Specified Term, Intermittent or Specified Task.

How long will the application remain on the register ?

The temporary employment register is refreshed in 12 months every year to ensure the most current information is available. When the register is about to close, everyone with a current registration will receive an email from our People and Culture team inviting you to reapply.

If all of your information is still current and accurate, you can simply apply for the new register and submit your application—you do not need to go through the whole process again.
