OVERVIEW
Accountable for the growth, retention and strategic direction of a high value client portfolio; the Account Director (AD) leads and maintains the relationship between their client(s) and Delete. As a trusted advisor to their client(s), they are experts in their clients’ brand and business, understanding their business challenges and how they can be overcome through effective engagement with Delete and our expert consultants.
As a coach and leader to Delete teams, the AD fosters the optimum conditions where people can thrive and produce the best possible work, delivering value for clients and value for the agency. Working in harmony with teams from different disciplines, the AD ensures clarity on the division of responsibilities. Through a positive, knowledgeable and inspirational attitude, it is the AD’s responsibility to set the tone and mood of the team and to manage the structure and day to day running of the account.
Entrepreneurial and commercially minded, they proactively seek and convert short and long term opportunities to cross-sell and upsell Delete products and services.

ATTITUDE & LEADERSHIP
- Energetic with a contagiously positive attitude, the AD must lead by example with a ‘can do’ attitude, and be able to demonstrate ownership of objectives, projects and processes
- Build and maintain strong internal relationships; earn trust and respect with other departments e.g. Project Management, Creative, Development, Managed Services, Digital Marketing - with the objective of getting the best out of these services while ensuring resources are utilised effectively and profitably.
- Review the performance of staff for which he/she is responsible for on a regular basis and be responsible for their development - Inspire them with loyalty and commitment and maintain strong motivation while delegating effectively.
- Maintain the morale of the staff for which he/she is responsible; coaching and training them into an effective team that takes ownership of tasks and objectives, and requires minimal supervision
- Be trusted and respected, build solid, unshakeable relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels
- Be able to effectively resolve both internal and client issues/conflicts with minimal to no intervention from the senior management team
COMMERCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY
- Demonstrate commercial awareness with a comprehensive understanding of your clients' budgets, as well as an ability to effectively and confidently negotiate budgets with senior clients and stakeholders
- Maximise profit opportunities long and short term, ensuring that the agency sales and profit targets are achieved
- Through the maintenance of an accurate forecast and collaboration with the Heads of Delivery and Project Managers/Directors; contribute to the effective planning of the agency workforce
DELIVERY OF WORK
- Demonstrate quality briefing and ensure the agency produces the highest standard at all levels on every job - while maintaining profitability
- Demonstrate proactive solution-based thinking and delivery - especially when things do not go according to plan
- Oversee delivery of work, with a comprehensive understanding of agency and client procedures and systems - Have operational, managerial and consultative contribution to each project
COMMUNICATION
- Be articulate and confidently lead senior client meetings and presentations - able to outline, organise, write and deliver major presentations and proposals
- Sell ideas, concepts and workstreams with conviction, enthusiasm, confidence and full commitment
- Exhibit a deep understanding of Delete, our business, our services, our history, our beliefs and our direction – Be confident in presenting agency credentials and case studies to clients, prospects and third parties
- Maintain exemplary written and verbal communications skills
NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Create, own and maintain comprehensive account plans for your clients
- Demonstrate full ownership and accountability on several different accounts/teams, ensuring that you are proactively driving to exceed your client’s expectations and the agency’s sales and profit targets:
- Identify initiatives for your client’s business
- Build client business to its full potential by securing briefs
- Proactively initiate briefs that the client is yet to identify
- Target other client stakeholder groups and divisions
- Create and generate business outside of your existing client portfolio
DAY TO DAY TASKS
- Maintain an accurate Turnover and Gross Profit forecast for your clients
- Ensure all opportunity information and reports are accurate and up to date in CRM
- Create, maintain and regularly review account plans for your clients
- Ensure accurate budget and financial reporting is in place for your clients
- Ensure regular face to face account meetings and project retrospectives take place
- Ensure meeting agendas and contact reports go out to clients in a timely manner
- Ensure Master Service Agreements are in place and signed with all of your clients
- Ensure Statements of Work are in place and signed before any work commences
- Own, organise, write and present proposals to clients - negotiate and close opportunities
SELF MANAGEMENT
- Ensure punctuality and appropriate dress at all times
- Show effective time management skills for work and client handling
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Meet or exceed sales turnover and profit targets as set by the Head of Accounts/Commercial Director
- Retain and/or grow existing client base
- Convert project based accounts into retained accounts with signed multi-year contracts in place
- In support of the Sales team, perform as part of a pitch winning team (acquisition of new work and/or clients)
