The project was expanded for a further five-years in 2016 with Bechtel’s work focusing on providing residential accommodation and education facilities - including a 18,000-student 'greenfield' university - as well as roads, bridges, medical centers, and power, water and waste facilities.
Job Dimensions:
Bechtel is seeking a Corrosion Specialist to provide material selection and corrosion management advice to RC in materials ensuring cost effective material selection and corrosion mitigation strategies which will ensure (technical) integrity of the materials applied in subsurface and surface hydrocarbon production, processing and transportation systems through their life cycle.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review corrosion aspects of the design and execution of major projects for the JIC from the concept stage through completion
- Expert/proficient in rectifiers, anodes, insulators and other related equipment to eliminate corrosive behavior
- Knowledge of measuring electrical activity in the soil and the pipelines/water tanks/marine exposed structures, using voltmeters, amp meters, resistivity meters and other related equipment
- Assists supervisor with planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the monitoring Corrosion Control Program of Jubail
- Establishes and implements maintenance and monitoring programs for the analysis and correction of corrosion failures
- Considerable knowledge of construction and EH&S procedures and Standards
- Considerable knowledge of NACE and API standards
- Considerable knowledge of electricity, i.e., current, voltage and resistance; electrical instrumentation, and test equipment
- Able to recognize symptoms and practical solutions to field problems
- Able to make clear written and oral descriptions of corrosion problems detailing symptoms, means of measurement or detection, and corrective measures to be used
Essential Qualifications:
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or higher in a materials/Metallurgic related subject.
- Experience should be a minimum of 12 years professional experience in the Metallurgy/Materials discipline.
- Background in engineering, as well as knowledge in the field of process technology, metallurgy, equipment design, and corrosion degradation modes.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to provide strong, active technical leadership to adopt and enforce a consistent approach that nurtures a culture of quality, creativity, innovation and empowerment.
- Capable of dealing and interacting with challenging people and situations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mastery in depth competencies in material selection (metallic & non-metallic materials), corrosion principles, metallurgy and welding, corrosion protection, corrosion management, pipeline inspection and maintenance, integrity of static equipment, cathodic protection and coating systems.
- Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
- Experience in contract management with knowledge of contract interpretation in an engineering consultation environment.
- Experience working in KSA or Middle East.
- Successful implementation of mentoring programs for young engineers.
- Multi-tasking co-ordination skill while executing complex and challenging project /program execution.
- Able to work in a culturally diverse environment
