Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Labs and Clinical Materials, the Digital Dental Technician is responsible for overall in-house production of digital dental appliances, managing and ensuring compliance with the workflows and processes, performing digital equipment maintenance, and overseeing the Digital Dental Lab at the Harvard Dental Center. This position, working with a great deal of autonomy, must balance competing and urgent requirements of HDC clinicians of all levels (faculty, advanced graduate students and pre-doctoral students).
The Digital Dental Technician will produce digital dental appliances as 3D printed surgical guides, diagnostic models, die models, crowns, and more digitally fabricated restorations and appliances, etc. The technician will create all digital steps in order to scan, mill or print. The technician should be familiar with 3D printing and CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, and will be in charge of all steps in the CAD/CAM workflow. Under the direction of HSDM Faculty, the technician will also give guidance and instructions to students in certain digital workflows. Track and bill direct (in axiUm) to FGP providers for in-house work. This individual is charged with ordering and maintaining all dental materials required, as well as storing paper and electronic files for the DDL (Digital Dental Lab).
Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Partners with and acts as back-up for the two Lab Technicians as needed.
This position is a one-year term position with a scheduled start date in January 2020, with the possibility of renewal.

Basic Qualifications
Three plus years of dental laboratory experience with significant demonstrated knowledge in digital technology. Education may count towards experience.
Additional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. CDT (Certified Dental Technician) strongly preferred. Strong technical competency with computers, databases, electronic folder and record organization. Must have excellent customer-service, and be a reliable and resourceful member of the team. Must be highly competent, confident, and willing to take initiative and lead areas with little to no guidance. Excellent communicator and experience producing formal communication as well. Can-do attitude is essential. Ability to work in a diverse environment and follow organizational systems. Must display a positive attitude in the workplace and serve as an example/representative of HDC, and specifically Lab Functions. Acts as a team player. Familiarity with an electronic health record database is preferred.
