Head of Design & Creative Direction

We are looking for a Head of Design & Creative Direction to join our executive team, reporting to the CEO. This role is responsible for all facets of design leadership across Wiivv, including software experience, UX and UI design; industrial and packaging design; brand standards and creative art direction. You will act as the leader for user-centered design and culture across the company. You will lead a small team of designers and collaborate closely with counterparts in product management, engineering, marketing and business development. You will work from a basis of expertise, taste and creative confidence to strengthen design from the heart of the company.  

 

What you'll do...

 

• Lead a small team of designers responsible for software product design and user experience.
• Coach and facilitate user-centered design across Wiivv with a strong sense of industry trends, thought leadership and functional excellence.
• Intuitively understand and drive experience strategy. Spend time and energy diffusing this knowledge.
• Be exceptionally creative and tasteful. Establish a high standard for Wiivv.
• Lead daily tasks, deliverables and weekly workshops focused on product design and experiences to support Agile software development..
• Visualize, evangelize and communicate persuasively. Create designs and art direction that is impossible to ignore.  
• Prioritize incisively. Appropriately balance tactical production with conceptual exploration. Channel multiple points of view.
• Execute. Grind it out. Do whatever is necessary to fuel the company with amazing and inspiring experiences.
• Take ownership of our brand standards and creative direction. Use our digital, physical and marketing assets to deliver inspiring and unifying art for the company and our customers.

 

You're awesome for this role because...

 

• You have a formal degree in design and at least seven years of direct professional experience.
• You have at least five years of successful experience leading design deliverables, teams and strategy.
• You have a portfolio of meaningful, inspiring, fresh and creative work that will leave us in awe.
• You have extensive hands on experience with the modern tools of software product design, from Sketch to Invision, HTML5 to Google Analytics and beyond.
• Fluency in creative, user-interface and business languages alike.
• Veteran leadership and teamwork skills. Your peers are naturally drawn to you.
• Visual production and story-telling come naturally to you. You are a master craftsman, turning ideas into visuals with ease.  
• You are detail oriented, visually fluent, and naturally curious. You foster and inspire these characteristics in others.
