The Opportunity: APV has a potential job opportunity for an Instructional Designer and Technologist to support Department of Defense (DOD) customers. The position supports the US Army, US Air Force and other clients with developing and maintaining distance learning courseware.

The Instructional Designer and Technologist will join APV’s growing team of talented Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Instructional Media Web designers, Gaming developers and programmers, Multimedia graphics designers, User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) and other Instructional System Designers. The project teams design, develop, and deliver an extensive range of distributed learning Training and Education (T&E) products to our clients using open source authoring, programming and gaming engines. Clients may include end users from a wide range of government agencies, departments, academia and industry. Current clients include Maryland State agencies, federal agencies such as Dept. of Health and Human Services, Department of Education and the Department of Defense (DOD) This position is contingent upon contract award.

The Instructional Designer will be an expert in developing training for federal clients (preferably DOD or military) with demonstrated success in a lead role creating highly engaging and interactive training. Experience and expertise needed to meet our clients’ needs include Interactive Multi-Media Instruction (IMI) focused on level 3 and 4 which includes gaming, simulation and virtual reality, but may include lower levels, as well.

Requirements:

  • M.S. Education (PhD. preferred) with specialization in Instructional Systems Design or Instructional Design Technology
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience developing distributed learning content
  • Demonstrated ability to: work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and instructors to develop learning objectives and course content; participate in courseware reviews with Government and internal teams.
  • Expert level skills in e-Learning content development software.
  • Ability to utilize current learning principles/concepts, instructional design theory/evaluation methods, adult learning theory, and training techniques/technologies to support development, delivery, administration, and evaluation such as industry-recognized Instructional Systems Design (ISD) and the ADDIE model.
  • Previous experience designing programs that incorporate IMI levels 3 and 4 into simulations and other interactive learning environments
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience with 3 D Modeling, gaming, Interactive Multimedia Instruction, Digital Learning Content Objects.
  • Demonstrated experience developing projects with Virtual Reality and/or Augmented Reality elements or components.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Understanding and knowledge of neuro-sciences and technologies and the impact on learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building SCORM 2004 3d Edition compliant DL
  • Experience developing Section 508 complaint Distributed Learning
