Job Description

Smiths Medical is currently hiring a Training Specialist II in
Minneapolis, MN.
The Training Specialist II will contribute to new training program design
and existing training enhancements, while performing complex project,
administrative, and coordination duties in support of the Sr. Manager
Global Quality and Regulatory (GQR) Training, in the achievement of ongoing
business needs and requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Incorporates adult learning principles and instructional design best
practices into training design and delivery.
  • Identifies and assesses training needs within Quality System and meets with
managers, supervisors, and SME to ascertain effective solutions.
  • Determines instructional methods using knowledge of specified training
needs and effectiveness of methods.
  • Develops training material for classroom and online learning environments.
  • Delivers/produces training content and material for online learning
including blended learning initiatives.
  • Ensures implementation of global, site and local area training programs, as
needed by SME. Delivers assigned routine training as required.
  • Collects feedback on sessions from participants to use for future
improvements to content and presentation.
  • Translates Quality System Documents into effective trainings for employees
globally including language translation.
  • Develop and continuously improve training content and delivery methods
including traditional methods and electronic delivery methods (computer or
web-based training, eLearning, training videos, digital media, etc.
  • Analyzes and recommends improvements to processes and programs within area
of responsibility to the Sr. Manager GQR Training, and upon approval,
implements those recommendations.
  • Works on other projects or assignments as necessary and/or as assigned.
  • This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all
applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and
company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards,
government occupational health and environmental regulations, and statutes
related to the site).
  • Engage others, promote, and participate in Environmental, Health, and
Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Human resource
Development, Or Equivalent Required. Advanced Degree Preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a
corporate/manufacturing/technological environment required.
  • Advanced skills in a variety of computer software applications: MS Office
Suite, MS Outlook, Captivate, Articulate, etc.
  • Training administration experience in quality or manufacturing training
function.
  • Medical device and/or regulated industry experience preferred.
  • Understands compliance requirements of 21 CFR part 820 and ISO 13485 and
their specific language on competence and training.
  • Working knowledge and experience with a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Education requirements can be obtained through an educational
institution or gained through equivalent work experience.
