Greyhound Gap is a small independent charity set up in 2006 to rescue,
rehabilitate and rehome greyhounds and lurchers. the objective of the
rescue is to promote the humane treatment of animals particularly
greyhounds and lurchers. Also to provide appropriate care, treatment and
security for those dogs who are in need by reason of sickness,
maltreatment,poor circumstances or ill usage.
We have a kennels just north of Stoke on Trent where we have capacity to
keep 60 dogs. Six people are employed at the site looking after the animals
and this includes the General Manager who is also the founder of Greyhound
Gap. There are three Trustees who administer the charity, two are voluntary
and unpaid, the other is the founder/general manager.
The Treasurer is now retiring and we need someone to take over this role.
At the moment, there is no specific Job Description as we would wish to
work with the new Treasurer to decide the best way to organise the finances
of the charity going forward. This could be with outsourcing/voluntary
help. However, it is envisaged that the Treasurer will have accountability
for quarterly management accounts that have to be presented to the bank and
also the end of year accounts. There will also be a requirement to deal
with VAT, Gift Aid and payments for major expenses.
We are looking for someone with experience in putting together
management/financial accounts with an attention to detail. It is absolutely
essential that the person has a commitment to and a passion for the welfare
of dogs. It would also be preferable if the person lived within an hours
drive of Stoke on Trent.
