    Overview

    The responsibilities of the Director of Supply Chain, North America encompass all of the functions of forecasting, inventory planning, purchasing, warehousing of raw materials, logistics and scheduling. This position will be responsible for continuously improving the complete supply chain strategy.

    Responsibilities
    • Demonstrated ability to manage supply chain projects on time and within budget.
    • Manage and monitor order rates, inventory levels, and delivery plans. Schedule deliveries as necessary to prevent backorders or excess stock.
    • Prepare monthly performance results for executive management, identifying issues and recommending corrective action.
    • Develop a core understanding of the business cost drivers and their impact on operations, customers and competitors.
    • Develop inventory targets and order points.
    • Assist in the development of the requirements/specifications of materials needed for the production of existing and new products.
    • Develop and manage relationships with suppliers. Put forth continuous effort to develop and qualify supplemental sources where needed.
    • Visit vendors and conduct relevant surveys to appraise their manufacturing ability and ensure sufficient capacity exists to support requirements.
    • Initiate and collaboratively develop opportunities with the key stakeholders to improve processes and costs.
    • Implement and influence best practices in supply chain disciplines.
    • Actively participate in supplier contract negotiations.
    • Mentor and assist team members in expanding their skills sets and knowledge base.
    • Work with Quality to manage rejections and return with vendors.
    • Operate in a continuous improvement mode focusing on quality, cost and delivery.
    • Develop and implement process and system improvements.
    • Perform special projects and assignments as requirement to meet work unit goals.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
    • APICS certification preferred.
    • A minimum of 7 years of Supply Chain Management experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
    • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
    • Detailed knowledge of ERP, MRP and statistical forecasting systems is required
    • Demonstrated understanding of purchasing practices, supply chain management practices, blueprint reading and understanding, and knowledge of material control scheduling.
