    About L3Harris WESCAM

    We are an extraordinary company.

We develop the most advanced multi-spectral, multi-sensor optical systems for global defense and military markets, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies worldwide. These systems provide stabilized, high-magnification Electro-optic and Infrared (EO/IR) laser, surveillance and targeting systems for airborne, marine and ground based platforms.

    About The Role

We’re looking to add some senior developers to our team who (ideally) have a rich background in not only GPU coding – but who are further capable of modelling and designing in an algorithm based environment

We’re way beyond hand-writing code anymore. With a massive legacy code base, our product-customization and increasingly complex systems combined with higher-than-ever volumes – we’re building a better mousetrap.

With the immense quantity of data that our optical systems manage – Distributed computing along with GPU processing is the answer.

GPU processing isn’t entirely new to us, but we’re leveraging it at the best time in its evolution. Combining Deep Learning and Data Science for image processing is key for us in allowing our systems to process extraordinary amounts of data from multiple electro-optical systems in fractions of a second.

We are currently working on an advanced intelligence and surveillance program involving Infrared Surface Tracking for naval environments that require processing massive amounts of data driven by multiple optical systems operating concurrently. This volume and complexity of data will be supported by a GPU-farm and card arrays that will employ AI/Deep Learning for image clutter suppression, object detection and more. It is this GPU ‘brain’ that we are developing not only for this current program, but for future programs as well.

Education & Expertise We Look For
    • Computer Science Degree/Diploma preferred
    • Ability to formulate and articulate complex design concepts in a high-performance computing environment
    • Mature/advanced coding and design abilities
    • Expertise in GPU coding and design
    • Ability to model and design the framework and algorithms that our GPU processing environment will operate in
    • Some experience with Image Processing, High-Speed/Performance Processing, Deep Learning would be a valuable asset (but not a primary skill).

Tools, Languages, Skills and Attributes We Look For
    • You must be able to obtain a security clearance / Controlled Good Program clearance
    • Looking to do something completely different with your coding career
    • Ability to understand the design and interpret the operation of complex, interrelated subsystems
    • Deep curiosity combined with highly-advanced problem solving capabilities
    • NVidia CUDA
    • Operating Systems expertise with Embedded Linux, RTOS (or Greenhill, WindRiver, ThreadX)
    • Platform expertise to include GPU (preferably), or ARM or x86
    • Language proficiency / coding maturity with C/C++, Matlab and Python
    • Previous deployment experience of model-based development, Deep Learning or Big Data

This is the most important part. Many companies say that their work is ‘exciting’ or ‘challenging’, or that they work in a fast-paced environment. Perhaps our definition of those terms is slightly different – because we are one of the only companies in the world that produce what we do, have customers like we do, allow our employees to work on the kinds of things we do, and say with certainty that what we do every day directly contributes to protecting lives around the world.

What else can you expect as an L3Harris WESCAM employee?
    • Every other Friday off
    • Subsidized gourmet café’s
    • Free fruit and bagels
    • Free wellness programs
    • Work/Life balance that is taken seriously
    • Real opportunities for growth, development and career progression
    • Everyone’s role at L3Harris WESCAM contributes to protecting people’s lives
