Your role
Are you gifted at assessing company strategies? Do you love giving advice, as well as researching? We’re looking for someone like that who can:

• Conduct financial statement analysis, build and maintain financial models to evaluate historical information and generate forecasts
• Write research reports on listed insurance companies with Buy/Neutral/Sell recommendations, analysing factors such as business development, trends, opportunities and valuation
• Individual stock coverage will be a near term priority in the role with the level and speed of coverage depending upon experience and talent
• Remain current on market themes to help frame investment views and strategies
• Pitch investment ideas to team, and internal/external clients
• Ability to draw on new sources of data and analysis to drive research output
• Help team organise non-traditional research, such as expert conference calls, property tours

The firm’s proprietary UBS Evidence Lab analyses add significant value to our investment recommendation process. You will be working in London within the European Insurance team. The team is highly ranked and prides itself on producing differentiated, proactive industry and stock-specific research.

Your expertise

• Strong academics: Qualified (or part qualified) Actuary although other qualifications with relevant experience will be considered
• Good relevant work experience: 5-10 years' experience with possible background in an actuarial consulting firm, life insurance business, reinsurance firm or an investment bank
• Ambitious, with clear demonstrable high performance both academically and professionally
• Ability to work efficiently within a fast paced environment with a focus on producing high quality work and meeting deliverables
• A self-starter with the potential for either immediate stock coverage, or the ability to develop towards stock coverage within 12 months
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics in a simple manner - both in person and on paper
• Financial modeling skills, strong knowledge of Excel or other data analysis tools
• Strong knowledge of the life insurance market and Interested in stock markets and valuation
• European language skills are a plus but not essential
