Job Purpose

To direct and participate in the work undertaken by a team of Shipwright technicians and semi-skilled personnel in support of Al Jawf Class Minehunters.
Maintenance of Al Jawf Class Minehunters and associated support equipment in accordance with the RSNF Al Jawf Class Maintenance Management System.


Job Accountabilities

Responsible to the Services Shop Head for the working standards and activities of a team of Shipwright technicians and semi-skilled personnel to support Al Jawf Class Minehunters. To lead and participate in the team’s work, which includes maintenance on hull and deck fittings in GRP structures, deck furniture, woodwork, tanks, ships cradle and other hull designated activities.

To assist the Shop head with the tasks required to administer the team and maintain good discipline in the working environment.

To deploy with the Forward Support unit (FSU) as required, with a team of technicians, to provide full technical support for the ships.

To implement MMS procedures and to ensure RSNF directives and codes of practice are followed.

To observe confidentiality of RSNF data at all times. To undertake any other duties assigned by the RSNF .

The RSNF may designate this billet as a training billet. The incumbent will be required to impart knowledge of position – related skills, duties and responsibilities in such a manner as to permit assimilation on the part of the trainee.


Recruitment Specification

Essential

HNC or equivalent, or a combination of training and experience (e.g. in the Royal Navy) which provides an equivalent educational standard.

Experience in Shipwright / Joiner engineering field with two in a supervisory capacity.

Knowledge of the equipment fitted to the Al Jawf Class minehunter is also preferred.
An Ex-Naval Senior Rating with substantial workshop supervisory experience would also be suitable.
