Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Health & Wellness Strategist is responsible for assisting with new health program development, research and report writing, faculty communications and web management, and student recruitment strategy. Responsibilities include conducting research to assist the Dean and faculty members to understand health human resource needs and competition; engaging report writing related to new and existing health & wellness programming; and liaising with the Coordinator, Program Development for managing new program development. The Health & Wellness Strategist will create and enact Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) strategic communications and marketing plan; research, write and edit stories and informational material for projects; develop, manage, and publish content to FHS’s website, social media sites, and other communication channels; interview students, staff and faculty throughout FHS in preparing video and print based stories; provide photography and video services from planning through to editing; establish and maintain close liaison and cooperative working relationships with FHS administrators, faculty, staff, and students as well as internal and external agencies; and contribute to and continuously reinforce an integrated FHS and institutional identify. Other responsibilities include developing and delivering strategic recruitment presentations for targeted FHS programs; providing information and liaising with the public regarding FHS programs and community partnerships; anticipating and helping lead the coordination of FHS events; and assisting the Dean of Health Sciences by being familiar with and anticipating communication requirements and opportunities of the Dean’s Office.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Communications, Marketing, or a related field from a recognized institution
- Minimum three (3) years’ of relevant or equivalent experience required
- Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship building skills, working with students, faculty and staff members
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to plan and manage numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to take the initiative and lead the development, implementation, and communication of FHS strategic plan activities
- Understanding of health & wellness educational programming
- Ability to write and edit promotional materials
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, stay current and adapt to change, and effectively handle changing priorities
- Interpersonal and research skills
- Ability to learn the annual cycle of communication within the institution and anticipate the needs of faculty and staff, and in particular the Dean, in preparing materials
- Understanding of and publishing experience with web-based content management systems
- Familiarity and experience with social media
- Functional aptitude with graphic design programs such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
- Photography skills an asset
- Experience in a post-secondary education or similarly complex organization considered an asset
