An exciting opportunity exists within the Department of Pediatric Laboratory Medicine (DPLM). The Quality Systems Specialist will support the development, implementation and evaluation of the quality management system.
Here’s What You’ll Get to Do
- Quality Management System development, implementation and evaluation
- Process mapping and policy/procedure development
- Involvement in all regulatory and accreditation initiatives involving the DPLM
- Auditing
- Training of personnel
- Working with the incident reporting system
- Analyzing data and information to identify needed improvements
- Involvement in the continuous improvement program to support effective operations in DPLM, including involvement in Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs and Process Improvement teams
- Participating in Hospital and departmental committees as required
Here’s What You’ll Need
- Minimum of five years' work experience related to quality management and/or laboratories
- Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities
- Above average initiative and motivation
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and adaptable to new technologies and processes
- Strong presentation techniques and written/verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated decision making and problem solving skills
- Familiarity with laboratory standards and regulations (e.g., IQMH, ISO15189, CAP, Health Canada)
- Demonstrated professional growth with ability in supervisory and organizational skills
- Strong facilitation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
The Following are Assets:
- Comprehensive technical skills and knowledge with specific background and experience working within a Quality Management System compliant with one of the following requirements: IQMH, ISO15189, AABB, AATB, CAP, and/or Health Canada Regulations
- Quality Assurance certificate from a college associated with ASQ or a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent
- Certification from the American Society for Quality (ASQ - CMQ/OE, CQA, CQE, CQIA)
- Clinical Laboratory Quality Manager certificate from the Michener Institute
- Professional registration as an MLT with the CMLTO
- In-depth knowledge of laboratory information systems
