What will you be doing?
As a Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for managing the results of a large scale applied research project, within budget, time, quality and with a happy customer and projectteam. You will steer the project team (including the subcontractor), guaranteeing high level of motivation and commitment to the assigned tasks. Moreover, in tight collaboration with the integral project manager, the contract manager and the design manager (lead engineer), you will continously, within scope, budget and timing, strive for optimal customer and (internal) team satisfaction during the execution of the project. As a Senior Project Manager you work in a team of professionals, for international automotive OEMs as well as with an international subcontractor.
The activities of the Senior Project Manager will consist of
Within the department Integrated Vehicle Safety (IVS) of TNO, we work with an integral approach on topics related to Automated Driving and Cooperative Mobility. Multiple disciplines like Control System Design, World modelling, Motion planning, Functional & operational safety, Sensor Fusion, V2V & V2X Communication, Electronics, Software Engineering, Assessment, Tooling etc. work together to enhance the automated vehicle and traffic safety and mobility.

- steering multi level project organisation.
- planning and monitoring of many different parallel processes.
- to be able to work with both waterfall approach as well as agile approach at the same time in different parts of the project
- to do risk management.
- to impement new (improvement) processes were needed.
- to negotiate with customer, subcontractor and internal stakeholders.
- being able to deal with not always 100% clear technical requirement and to be able to understand project changes (detect them at high level, have the analytical power to analyse them on detail level when needed).
- being able to deal with stressful situations in a very dynamic environment, being able to adapt quickly when needed.
- having experience with a matrix organisational structure is a pro, being able to deal with both technical leads (pillars) as well as workpackage leads.
- experience of steering innovation driven technical people, while steering of innovatice technical people, while maintaning result driven target.analyse.
- being able to deal with stressful situations in a very dynamic environment, being able to adapt quickly when needed
- having experience with a matrix organisational structure is a pro, being able to deal with both technical leads (pillars) as well as workpackage leads)
- experience of steering innovation driven technical people, while steering of innovatice technical people, while maintaning result driven target.
- technical university (MSc), in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or comparable;
- at least 15 years of experience as project leader/manager in the automotive industry (R&D or product development). A background in the field of e.g. passive & active safety, automated driving, vehicle dynamics and control, or HMI / driver interaction is preferred;
- significant expertise to work on an international level, including experience in working with Asian customers is a must!
- convincing and broad variety of communication skills (orally and in writing), good understanding of customer needs as well as needs from the team;
- thorough knowledge of both the Dutch and English language.
