Digital Practice Technologist (Content Creation / Laser Scanning Specialist)

This role is part of our Digital Practice department expansion which involves providing support in Revit and other technologies to all our office staff. Your specific focus will be on the creation of Revit families and Laser Scanning. As the main content creation specialist, you will indulge in the creation of parametric Revit content under the direction of our senior content specialist and Digital Practice manager. In addition, you will also be a member of our Laser Scanning team responsible for conducting scans across Canada under the direction of our main Laser Scanning Technician and Digital Practice Lead.


Your Main Responsibilities:

  • Creating and updating of Revit families (fixtures, furniture, equipment, title blocks etc.)
  • Maintaining our content creation standards
  • Assisting in the upkeep and management of the office content library
  • Maintaining and updating Revit project templates for various departments
  • Providing training and support in proper Revit family usage and standards to design teams
  • Developing procedural documents for content usage and posting to our intranet
  • Laser scanning locally and across Canada
  • Assisting Digital Practice in general Revit support requests


Required Skills:

  • General knowledge of Revit modelling and overall mastery of the program.
  • A thorough knowledge of Revit family creation and customization using 2D and 3D categories.
  • Comfortable working with shared and non-shared parameters in Revit projects, families and schedules.
  • Application of advanced Revit family concepts such as nested families, arrays, complex formulas etc.
  • Ability to flex and troubleshoot Revit families
  • Keen interest and continuous learning of other design-related technologies.
  • Knowledge of laser scanning, point cloud processing and registration using FARO Scene or ReCap or potential to learn quickly.
  • Certified CanBIM P2 level or up, or willing to be certified within 6 months.
  • G/G2 Drivers license is required.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Understanding of BIM workflows in design and/or construction.
  • Advanced Revit modeling techniques.
  • Generative design using Revit, Dynamo and/or Grasshopper.
  • Programming in python, C#, JavaScript etc.
  • Data analysis using Excel pivot tables, Power BI, SQL/MS Access.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Work independently and within a team environment.
  • Possess good time management skills and multi-task between assigned tasks and Revit support requests.
