You will join our Building department

As our new Geotechnical Engineer, you will be part of the Structural & Geotechnical team which is currently growing with a demand for a new aspiring and ambitious Team member who will continue the strategic growth of the department.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be
  • Work as a Geotechnical Engineer within the Structural Engineering department and continue to deliver high quality technical and coordinated design.
  • Develop and grow within Ramboll’s Technical Support Groups driving innovation, new technologies and techniques.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication with all Ramboll’s project stakeholders, sub-consultants and clients.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of Geotechnical services to other disciplines within the organisation for small, medium and large-scale projects.
  • Adapt to different cultures and working environments with the ability to work under pressure, in addition, being flexible travelling across the GCC and overseas.
  • Ability to build and motivate whilst working within a team and demonstrate good leadership qualities, interface with clients, technical specialists and project stakeholders.
  • Carry out site supervision and inspections where required.
  • Work with the ground engineering teams in other Ramboll offices.
  • Apply and promote policies relating to health and safety, quality, and the development of others.
  • Assist with project enquiries and input to the procurement of new work for the Structural Department and in collaboration with other teams.
  • Liaise with clients, both internal and external, with a view to building and growing client relationships and developing opportunities for new business. Assists on technical design, collaboration, consulting, business development and client development initiatives and portfolio’s in order to assist with the development of sustainable and profitable client relationships, new sources of revenue and operational efficiency.
  • Acts as a lead resource in one or more technical and/or professional disciplines.
  • Exhibits a collaborative One Company mind-set in performing Lead Consultant responsibilities and in the support of colleagues throughout Ramboll.
  • Works collaboratively with others to create and manage joint consulting, business development and client development opportunities.
  • Manages the actions required in supporting implementation of business plans which have a direct impact on consulting objectives and the achievement of Ramboll’s results.
  • Considers and suggests practical and innovative approaches and ideas to create competitive advantage, value creating client solutions and to generate new sources of revenue.
  • Assists on initiatives to strengthen and deepen client relationships including for key clients.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field with >5 years’ experience.
  • Has a significant professional consulting experience of operating predominantly within challenging consulting environments.
  • Has widespread experience of taking the lead on consulting projects and in acting as an engineering/technical/functional resource.
  • Demonstrates strong consulting and business acumen as well as strong engineering, technical and functional acumen, in relevant domains of knowledge.
  • Ground investigation works including design, specification and supervision.
  • Geotechnical interpretation and reporting.
  • Geotechnical design, with particular emphasis on design of buildings foundations and excavations, including shallow foundation design, piling, earth retaining structures, basements, retaining walls, slope stability etc.
  • Experience of geotechnical software including Plaxis 2D & 3D, gInt (or HoleBASE), Wallap, Slope/W, Surfer, Geo5, and similar programs.
  • Preparation of reports, plans and specifications.
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and taking responsibility for geotechnical work.
  • An attitude suited to a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, programme and cost awareness.
  • Capable of working independently.
  • Demonstrates a driven and passionate interest in the design of geotechnical engineering works with a strong desire to assist in growing and developing a team within the Middle East region.
  • Has excellent English language skills (written and oral), coupled with strong communication (written and oral) and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to enhance client relationships and support the winning of business opportunities and development of proposals.
Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include Enthusiastic personality – demonstrating a desire to develop and grow within the company. Comfortable in client presentations, report writing and taking the lead role on a portfolio of projects. Middle East Consultancy experience.
