Role Overview

The Senior Network Specialist will be an in-house infrastructure network expert for corporate infrastructure, physical production data centers and cloud-based architectures for large scale enterprise transactional financial systems. As a key contributor to our IT Operations Team, the Senior Network Specialist works closely with Technical Solutions Architects, System Architects, IT personnel and management. The ideal candidate is a seasoned Linux system administrator with a professional networking designation, i.e., CCNP or CCIE.

Specific Responsibilities  

• Designing and implementing net new network solutions and improving the quality and efficiency of current networks in a hybrid operating model.
• Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, load balancers, DNS and DHCP.
• Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
• Available to support production systems in a 24x7 operating environment.
• Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
• Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installations.
• Planning, implementing and testing scheduled upgrades.
• Investigating and remediating faults in the network.
• Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
• Reporting network status and health to key stakeholders
• Contribute to the overall operations and culture of the company, fostering our values and policies.

 

Capability Requirements – education, skills & experience

• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science (or equivalent knowledge & learning capability from work experience).
• Minimum 5 years’ related experience in a small to mid-size software company in a technical role.
• Possess a CCNP, CCIE or comparable designation.
• Solid experience with Linux, Load balancing utilizing Linux Virtual Server and Apache with a fundamental understanding of web application firewalls.
• Experience in installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, DNS, DHCP
• Ability to create and maintain sustainable network documentation.
• Demonstrated experience with real-time enterprise transactional systems.
• Experience with loyalty and payment systems an asset.
• Strong aptitude for technical learning, including demonstrated ability to learn and master custom in-house applications.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making ability, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with PCI compliant environments and ITIL processes
