The Department of Geography at Durham University seeks to appoint an exceptional scholar as an Assistant Professor with research and teaching interests in the broad field of Human Geography. We are particularly keen to hear from those whose work encompasses quantitative methods, and whose work will complement and extend the current work in any one (or more) of our research clusters (Economy and Culture; Geographies of Life; Politics

The successful applicant will develop world class scholarship in their field and we encourage work that develops a range of theoretical, conceptual and/or methodological approaches. Successful candidates will be close to completion of, or been awarded, a PhD in a relevant field, and demonstrate the potential for agenda-setting publications. They will show a commitment to delivering excellent teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, high-quality supervision to research postgraduates, and will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and masters-level teaching. In addition to their research, the successful candidates will perform departmental administrative tasks commensurate with their grade and contribute to our wider human geography teaching programme.
