Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Business Unit Director, Rare Disease & Neuroscience, the Product Manager/Senior Product Manager will develop strategies and tactics for the launch of new rare disease products. Specific areas of focus include brand plan development and implementation, target customer identification and segmentation, development of collateral materials and promotional programs, physician speaker training, and sales force training.
Main Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and execute strategic brand plans and engagement strategies for launch of new products, in alignment with key cross-functional stakeholders (including Medical, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access) that ultimately support unmet patient needs.
- Lead pre-launch and market development activities.
- Determine marketing research needs to understand how to most effectively influence prescribing decisions.
- Communicate strategic and tactical plans to the US, Canadian senior management and the Specialty Sales Force.
- Identify market opportunities, industry trends and customer targets through competitive analysis, positioning, and marketing strategy assessments. Integrate information and data across functions and geographies, as well as external knowledge, to create decisive insights that drive the business forward.
- Identify specific distribution or channel issues and provide appropriate management.
- Analyze product performance and inventory management of the marketed product. Utilize market analytics to be proactive in the Canadian healthcare market.
- Support forecasting and pricing teams.
- Lead the implementation of strategic and tactical plans for the brands, new product development and commercialization.
- Develop focused strategic and tactical plans for the brands, including monitoring goals, with specific understanding of the pharmacy and specialty care markets.
- Lead the development of promotional materials, programs, and training initiatives and work with Legal, Medical, and Regulatory to have them reviewed and approved.
- Develop and maintain Key Opinion Leader (KOL) connections and invest in field time with reps to hear first-hand what the situation is with physicians and payors, and utilize insights to inform the brand plans.
- Create a culture of breakthrough thinking and pragmatic experimentation across the organization.
- View situations or systems from multiple perspectives to ensure all angles are thoroughly examined and pertinent information acquired.
- Determine effective marketing communication channels to raise awareness and understanding of the benefits of Ipsen’s therapy for selected patient types, and developing and deploying effective tactics to achieve Marketing Plan goals.
- Working together with other functions, develop and implement a best-in-class Canadian commercial development plan for Ipsen’s product.
- Working with Medical Affairs, provide input to market needs for Medical Education to maintain relationships with Canadian KOLs.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree, preferably in business (MBA) or health sciences is preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is required.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in sales, preferably specialty care is required.
- Product Manager level: a minimum of 3 years’ progressive marketing experience. Senior Product Manager level: a minimum of 5 years’ progressive marketing experience.
- Experience in rare disease or neuroscience an asset.
- Experience in a start-up or part of an expansion sales force preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, foster trust and gain respect to lead, motivate, collaborate, negotiate and influence the decision-making of internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical legal, regulatory, and medical processes required.
- Demonstrated understanding of how customers use information across all channels and ideally experience in leveraging multiple channels to achieve education objectives.
- Specialty product marketing experience is an asset.
- Good collaboration and agency management skills.
